Tell the Govenor and State Legislators “Let Colorado Recover”

Take ActionSoon, state leaders will make key decisions about Colorado’s budget — including how to use federal stimulus dollars to promote Colorado’s economic recovery.

Unfortunately, a long-standing budget formula, the “Arveschoug-Bird” 6% provision, stands in the way.  Unless it is repealed, this year’s cuts to education and other critical services will become permanent.   While other states will be able to restore their investments when the economy improves, Arveschoug-Bird will lock in recession-level funding in Colorado.  That’s bad for schools and colleges, bad for our economy, and bad for Colorado kids and families.

Senate Bill 228 will repeal  “Arveschoug-Bird,” maximize the benefit of the federal stimulus dollars, and allow decisions about state spending to be made according to Colorado priorities — rather than by an arbitrary formula that favors roads over schools and colleges. Send the message today!
