great education colorado denver state capitol imageSince we launched our petition

calling on state leaders to "make education a top priority," some have begun to to do just that, by considering a wide variety of education reform plans. There are proposals to reform standards and curriculum from preschool to higher education, to give schools more autonomy and to encourage more early intervention.

That focus on our schools is most welcome. But will legislators fund these proposals adequately, or will they just place more unfunded mandates on our schools and districts?

One thing's for sure -- parents and teachers can't pick up the tab with more out-of-pocket Office Depot runs, activity fees, home tours and wrapping paper sales.

We need your voice at the Capitol. So, watch Granny. Add your name to the petition and pass it along to others who will enjoy it and agree with the message: our children deserve better. And RSVP if you will join us on March 17 at 1:00 at the Capitol to help us deliver the petitions.

Our goal is to collect 500 more signatures in the next five days. Will you help us by signing and by sending our latest Granny video to other public school supporters and encouraging them to sign?
